We're recruiting for an exciting opportunity to join a major UK Defence programme delivering the next generation of military training and simulation capability. The Opportunity
As a Systems Engineer, you'll play a key role in the definition, integration and delivery of complex Defence systems across advanced simulation and training platforms.
Working alongside Enterprise Architects and multidisciplinary engineering teams, you'll contribute throughout the engineering lifecycle, from architecture and systems integration through to verification, validation and deployment.
You'll have the opportunity to:
- Design and integrate complex Defence systems from concept through to delivery.
- Develop system architectures using Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE).
- Deliver secure, mission-critical solutions using Secure-by-Design principles.
- Support integration, verification, validation and acceptance activities.
- Contribute to the migration and integration of legacy data into modern Defence environments.
- Work closely with military stakeholders, engineering teams and industry partners to shape the future of Defence training technology.
What We're Looking For
We're interested in speaking with Systems Engineers who enjoy solving complex technical challenges within Defence or other highly regulated industries.
You'll ideally have experience with:
- Systems Engineering within Defence, Aerospace or other safety-critical sectors.
- Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), SysML or ArchiMate.
- Systems integration, requirements management and configuration management.
- Verification & Validation (V&V) across the system lifecycle.
- Secure-by-Design principles and cybersecurity awareness.
- Data integration, migration and ETL processes.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and technical documentation skills.
Experience in any of the following would be beneficial:
- Defence or MOD programmes.
- Simulation, synthetic training or mission systems.
- Embedded systems or electronics.
- DevSecOps, CI/CD or Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
- Integrated Logistics Support (ILS).
- Reliability, Availability & Maintainability (RAM).
- Safety assurance and environmental compliance.
- Secure data environments or Government Furnished Information (GFI).
Hybrid Working
This role offers a collaborative hybrid working model with 3 days per week onsite at the client's state-of-the-art engineering and innovation centre in Southampton .
The onsite element is an integral part of the role, giving you the opportunity to collaborate closely with engineering teams, work hands-on with cutting-edge technology and engage directly with key programme stakeholders, while still benefiting from the flexibility of hybrid working.
