About the role
As a Teaching Assistant at Witherslack Group, you will work with children and young people with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and other special educational needs. You will help them learn, develop their abilities and raise their self‑esteem, contributing to the ‘huge small victories’ that make a real difference in their lives.
The role is based at The Eaves campus in Westbury, a rural setting that combines education, care and therapeutic support for pupils with ADHD, ASD, Asperger’s, SLCN, PDA and SEMH. The school has been rated Good by Ofsted.
Responsibilities
- Support teachers in delivering lessons and facilitating learning activities.
- Assist pupils in developing skills, confidence and self‑esteem.
- Provide one‑to‑one and small group support to help pupils meet their individual learning goals.
- Work closely with therapists and specialist staff to implement behaviour and support plans.
- Maintain accurate records of pupil progress and support requirements.
- Promote a positive, inclusive classroom culture and model a ‘can‑do’ attitude.
- Participate in induction and ongoing training sessions.
Qualifications & Experience
- Passion for supporting children with complex needs and a genuine desire to make a lasting impact.
- Experience working in a classroom or support environment is desirable, but if not, relevant training will be provided.
- Resilience, dedication and an ability to work as part of a team.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to continuous professional development and progressing within the Group.
