Technical Director (Games)

About the Role

Our client, an established and innovative game development studio, is seeking a highly experienced Technical Director (Games) to lead their technical vision and execution for a new project. This is a fully remote position, offering the chance to shape the technological foundation of a cutting-edge game from anywhere. You will guide the engineering team, define the technology stack, and ensure the technical quality, performance, and scalability of the game. Key Responsibilities

• Define and drive the overall technical strategy and architecture for the game project.
• Lead, mentor, and manage the engineering team, fostering a collaborative and productive remote work environment.
• Oversee the selection and implementation of core technologies, game engines, and development tools.
• Ensure the technical feasibility of game designs and work with other departments to address technical challenges.
• Establish and enforce coding standards, best practices, and performance targets.
• Proactively identify and mitigate technical risks throughout the development lifecycle.
• Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends, recommending innovative solutions.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in game development, with a significant portion in leadership or technical director roles.
• Proven track record of shipping multiple titles across PC and console platforms.
• Expertise in game engine architecture (e.g., Unreal Engine, proprietary engines) and performance optimization.
• Strong understanding of software engineering principles, C++, and multi-threaded programming.
• Experience managing and leading geographically distributed engineering teams.
• Exceptional problem-solving, decision-making, and strategic planning abilities.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, adept at conveying complex technical concepts.
