Job Description
The Role
The Technical Estimator will take ownership of the end-to-end quotation process, ensuring every customer quotation is accurate, professionally prepared, issued promptly, and proactively managed through to conclusion.
Working as a central resource, rather than within an individual service team, you will support all areas of the business equally, helping to improve consistency, reduce quotation turnaround times, and maximise revenue opportunities.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys combining customer communication, and process improvement in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Quotation Management
- Produce accurate and timely customer quotations.
- Review customer requirements to ensure technical scope is captured correctly.
- Liaise with engineers and internal departments to obtain information required to prepare quotations.
- Ensure quotations are issued within agreed service level targets.
- Support all operational teams as a central estimating function.
Customer Communication
- Proactively follow up quotations with customers.
- Chase outstanding quotations to maximise conversion opportunities.
- Record customer feedback, decisions, and agreed next steps.
- Build positive customer relationships through professional communication.
- Ensure every quotation is managed through to completion.
CRM & Data Management
- Maintain accurate quotation records within company systems.
- Record all customer interactions and follow-up activity.
- Capture reasons for accepted and declined quotations.
- Ensure CRM and estimating systems remain accurate and up to date.
Reporting & Performance Analysis
- Monitor outstanding and overdue quotations.
- Track quotation turnaround times and SLA performance.
- Produce reports on quotation conversion rates and trends.
- Identify common reasons for lost opportunities and recommend improvements.Support management with forecasting and performance reporting.
About You
We're looking for someone who is organised, analytical and customer focused, with the ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining excellent attention to detail.
You will ideally have:
- Experience in estimating, quotations, technical administration or service coordination.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Confidence communicating with customers by telephone and email.
- Good commercial awareness and attention to detail.
- Experience using CRM or service management systems.
- Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel and Outlook.
- The ability to interpret technical information and produce accurate quotations.
- Experience analysing business performance data and producing reports.
