We are recruiting for a highly specialised Technical Expert to join an innovative engineering and technology organisation developing advanced simulation and analysis software.
This is a senior individual-contributor position combining CFD, FEA, numerical modelling and C++ software development. You will take technical ownership of sophisticated physics-based analysis tools, helping define the future research and development roadmap while remaining hands-on with modelling, algorithms and software.
The Role
You will:
Lead research and development across CFD, FEA and Fluid-Structure Interaction (FSI) Develop and improve numerical models used to predict complex physical behaviour Translate theoretical research into robust, production-quality C++ software Improve simulation accuracy, performance, automation and solve times Develop and evaluate numerical methods, algorithms and optimisation techniques Maintain and modernise an established engineering codebase Work closely with engineers, designers and software specialists to shape the technical roadmap Introduce modern software engineering, testing and development practices Act as a senior technical authority within the engineering team
What We're Looking For
We are particularly interested in candidates with:
Deep theoretical and practical knowledge of CFD and/or FEA Strong commercial C++ development experience Experience developing CFD, FEA or scientific/engineering simulation software Strong knowledge of numerical methods and algorithm development Experience working with complex 3D geometries Knowledge of material modelling, ideally including anisotropic, composite or nonlinear materials Strong mathematical and technical problem-solving ability The ability to independently lead complex technical and research problemsA PhD in CFD, FEA, Applied Mathematics or a closely related discipline would be highly relevant, although candidates with equivalent high-level industrial experience will also be considered.
Desirable Experience

Fluid-Structure Interaction / multiphysics Computational geometry or meshing Optimisation techniques Legacy C++ modernisation Python or BASH automation Developing automated testing frameworks High-performance engineering or simulation environments Publishing or presenting technical research AI-assisted software development tools
The Opportunity
This is an unusual opportunity for someone who wants to remain deeply technical while having significant influence over the direction of a sophisticated engineering software platform.
Rather than moving into people management, you will become a senior technical authority, combining research, physics, mathematics and software engineering to solve complex real-world engineering problems.
The position can be based remotely in the UK, Spain, France, Germany, Italy or the Netherlands, with occasional business travel required.
Candidates must already have the right to work in the UK or EU without sponsorship
