Technical Safety Lead

Hybrid: 4 days in office, 1 day from home

The Technical Safety Lead is responsible for protecting, supporting, and assuring the integrity and process safety performance of the Morecambe Hub assets. This role leads all Technical Safety activities, including end-of-life asset plans, ensuring compliance with company standards, statutory legislation, and Major Accident Hazard (MAH) requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and be accountable for the delivery and quality of all Technical Safety activities across Morecambe Hub assets.
• Provide technical safety expertise and support the implementation of CMAPP, safety engineering philosophies, and company standards.
• Ensure compliance with Major Accident Hazard legislation, including Safety Cases and COMAH regulations.
• Maintain, update, and support the site's Safety Case and COMAH Report.
• Lead and facilitate hazard and risk assessment studies including HAZOP, HAZID, HIRA, and ENVID workshops.
• Manage Technical Safety resources and external service providers to deliver business objectives and work programmes.
• Deliver and maintain the Technical Authority Framework for the Technical Safety discipline.
• Manage competence assurance activities across the Technical Safety function.
• Conduct engineering peer reviews to ensure technical safety integrity across assets.
• Manage contractor performance, including quality assurance, quality control, engineering calculations, philosophies, and technical designs.
• Act as Lead Investigator using Kelvin TopSet methodologies and support incident investigations and lessons learned activities.
• Undertake additional duties as required to support business objectives.
• Extensive experience in a Technical Safety Lead or similar Process Safety leadership role.
• Strong understanding of Major Accident Hazard Management, Safety Cases, and COMAH regulations.
• Knowledge of relevant engineering codes, standards, and industry regulations.
• Experience within Oil & Gas, Energy, Petrochemical, Chemical, or Process industries.
• Proven experience managing contractors and working within operator/client environments.
• Experience leading hazard identification and risk assessment studies (HAZOP, HAZID, HIRA, ENVID).
• Incident investigation experience, ideally using Kelvin TopSet methodologies.

Qualifications:

• Degree qualified in Engineering, Technology, or a related discipline.
• Chartered Engineer (CEng) status or equivalent professional accreditation.
• Formal training and practical experience in incident investigation techniques such as Kelvin TopSet.
