Job Description
Estates Technician (Electrical) - Band 5 We are seeking a qualified Electrical Estates Technician to join the Estates & Facilities team, supporting the maintenance, repair and safe operation of electrical and building services across a busy NHS Trust. The role involves planned and reactive maintenance, fault finding, installations, inspections and testing of a wide range of electrical systems, ensuring critical hospital infrastructure remains safe, compliant and fully operational.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out planned preventative and reactive maintenance on electrical systems and equipment.
- Diagnose and repair faults on LV electrical services, lighting, power distribution, fire alarms, BMS, UPS, generators and other building systems.
- Undertake electrical installations, testing and inspections in line with statutory regulations and NHS standards.
- Support contractors and specialist engineers while ensuring compliance with health and safety procedures.
- Participate in the on-call rota and respond to emergency maintenance issues.
- Provide technical guidance to colleagues and contribute to service improvement projects.
Requirements
- Recognised electrical apprenticeship.
- City & Guilds or NVQ Level 3 in an electrical discipline.
- AM1 & AM2 qualifications.
- Experience in electrical maintenance, fault finding and building services.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Knowledge of commercial, healthcare, facilities management or industrial environments is desirable.
