About the Role

Our client is seeking a visionary Telecommunications Systems Architect to lead the design and evolution of their core network infrastructure in Birmingham . This senior-level position requires a deep understanding of current and emerging telecom technologies to architect solutions that meet future business demands for scalability, reliability, and innovation. You will play a critical role in shaping the strategic direction of our network, ensuring it remains competitive and capable of supporting cutting-edge services. Working from our Birmingham offices, you will collaborate with a dedicated team of engineers and product managers to translate complex requirements into actionable technical blueprints.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain the long-term architectural vision for the company's telecommunications systems.
• Evaluate and select new technologies and vendor solutions to enhance network capabilities and service offerings.
• Create detailed technical designs and specifications for network upgrades and new deployments.
• Provide expert technical guidance and leadership to engineering and operational teams.
• Ensure architectural designs comply with industry standards, security policies, and regulatory requirements.
• Conduct feasibility studies and performance analyses for proposed system enhancements.

Requirements

• Master's degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
• 10+ years of experience in telecommunications, with a significant focus on network architecture and design.
• Extensive knowledge of mobile network technologies (e.g., 5G, LTE), IP networking, cloud-native architectures, and virtualization (NFV/SDN).
• Proven ability to architect large-scale, resilient, and high-performance telecom systems.
• Experience with capacity planning, network modeling, and simulation tools.
• Strong analytical and strategic thinking capabilities.
