Telecoms Field Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated and skilled Telecoms Field Engineer to join their operations team based in Sunderland, Tyne and Wear . This role is essential for the installation, maintenance, and repair of telecommunications equipment and infrastructure at customer sites and various network locations. You will be the face of the company on the ground, ensuring that our services are delivered reliably and efficiently. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical aptitude, excellent problem-solving skills, and a commitment to providing outstanding customer service. This position requires regular travel within the designated region.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, configure, test, and maintain telecommunications equipment, including routers, switches, and transmission systems.
• Perform diagnostics and troubleshoot network issues, identifying root causes and implementing effective solutions in the field.
• Conduct site surveys and assess requirements for new installations or upgrades.
• Ensure all work is completed safely, adhering to company policies and health and safety regulations.
• Provide technical support and guidance to customers and end-users during on-site visits.
• Maintain accurate records of all work performed, including service reports and equipment logs.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Field Engineer or similar role within the telecommunications industry.
• Strong understanding of telecommunications principles, including copper and fiber optic technologies.
• Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and test equipment for network analysis.
• Excellent practical skills in hardware installation and troubleshooting.
• Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and handle challenging site conditions.
• Full UK driving license and a willingness to travel extensively within the region.
