Telecoms Field Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a motivated and technically adept Telecoms Field Engineer to join their operations team, primarily serving the Newcastle upon Tyne region. In this critical role, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of telecommunications equipment and infrastructure at customer sites. You will act as a key point of contact for clients, ensuring high levels of service delivery and customer satisfaction. This role involves a combination of on-site work and occasional remote support, offering a dynamic and engaging career path within the rapidly evolving telecoms sector .

Key Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and commission telecommunications equipment, including routers, switches, and transmission systems.
• Perform routine maintenance and diagnostic checks on network infrastructure to ensure optimal performance.
• Troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software issues affecting client connectivity and service quality.
• Respond to service calls and emergency repairs in a timely and efficient manner.
• Provide technical support and guidance to clients, explaining technical issues in an understandable way.
• Maintain accurate records of work performed, including site visits, repairs, and equipment inventory.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Field Engineer or similar technical role within the telecommunications industry.
• Strong understanding of telecom network principles, including fiber optics, copper cabling, and wireless technologies.
• Proficiency with diagnostic tools and testing equipment used in the field.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills, with a professional demeanor.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively across multiple sites.
• Valid UK driving license and willingness to travel within the designated region.
