Telecoms Field Service Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated and skilled Telecoms Field Service Engineer to join their expanding team based in Newcastle upon Tyne . You will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of telecommunications equipment and systems at customer sites. This role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and a commitment to delivering excellent service, ensuring that our clients' connectivity and communication systems operate at peak performance. The hybrid nature of this role allows for both on-site engagement and flexible home working, offering a balanced work environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, commission, and service a range of telecoms equipment , including routers, switches, and transmission systems.
• Perform routine maintenance, diagnostic testing, and preventative repairs on network infrastructure.
• Respond promptly to service calls and emergency repair requests, ensuring minimal downtime for clients.
• Accurately document all service activities, including parts used, time spent, and resolutions achieved.
• Provide basic technical support and customer guidance on the use of installed equipment.
• Adhere to all health and safety regulations while working on client premises.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Field Service Engineer or similar role within the telecoms industry .
• Strong technical understanding of telecommunications hardware, including fiber optics and copper cabling.
• Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and test equipment for network analysis.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively under pressure.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills for client interaction.
• Valid UK driving license and willingness to travel within the designated service area.
