About the Role
Our client is seeking a dedicated and skilled Telecoms Field Service Engineer to join their team based in Newcastle upon Tyne . This role is vital for ensuring the seamless operation and maintenance of telecommunications equipment at customer sites. You will be responsible for installing, diagnosing, repairing, and upgrading network systems, providing on-site technical support, and ensuring customer satisfaction. This hybrid position allows for focused work in the field while incorporating remote administrative and planning tasks, offering a balanced approach to service delivery within the vibrant Tyne and Wear region.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform on-site installation, configuration, and maintenance of telecom equipment , including fiber optic networks and related hardware.
- Diagnose and resolve complex technical issues affecting network performance and connectivity in the field.
- Conduct regular preventative maintenance checks to ensure optimal equipment operation and identify potential problems.
- Provide excellent customer service and technical support to clients, explaining issues and resolutions clearly.
- Manage field service documentation, including service reports, site surveys, and inventory updates, contributing to accurate remote record-keeping.
- Collaborate with the remote support team to escalate and resolve issues that cannot be addressed on-site.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Field Service Engineer or in a similar technical support role within the telecoms industry.
- Strong understanding of telecommunications technologies , including mobile networks, broadband, and VoIP systems.
- Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and equipment for network testing and troubleshooting.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Valid UK driving license and a willingness to travel within the designated service area.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with customers.
