Telecoms Field Service Technician

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated and skilled Telecoms Field Service Technician to join their operational team in Birmingham . This role is crucial for ensuring the reliable installation, maintenance, and repair of telecommunications equipment at customer sites. You will be the frontline representative, providing essential technical support and ensuring customer satisfaction through expert service delivery. The successful candidate will be comfortable working independently, possess excellent troubleshooting abilities, and have a strong commitment to safety and quality workmanship, contributing directly to the company's reputation for dependable service across the region.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and commission telecommunications equipment, including fibre optic cables, routers, and switches, at client locations.
• Diagnose and resolve technical issues related to network connectivity, signal strength, and equipment malfunction in a timely manner.
• Perform routine maintenance and preventative checks on telecommunications systems to ensure optimal performance and minimize downtime.
• Respond to service calls and emergency repair requests efficiently and professionally.
• Adhere strictly to health and safety regulations and company procedures during all site visits and operations.
• Provide clear and concise technical reports on work performed, equipment status, and any identified issues.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Field Service Technician or in a similar hands-on telecommunications role.
• Strong understanding of telecommunications hardware, including installation and troubleshooting procedures.
• Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and equipment for network testing and repair.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills, with the ability to explain technical issues clearly.
• Full UK driving license and willingness to travel extensively within the designated service area.
