About the Role
Our client is seeking a dedicated Telecoms Infrastructure Engineer to join their vital technical team based in Reading . This role is focused on the hands-on implementation, maintenance, and support of the company's core telecommunications infrastructure. You will be responsible for ensuring the operational integrity and performance of our network hardware and software components. Working closely with the network operations and planning teams, you will play a crucial part in maintaining and upgrading the systems that power our services, contributing to a robust and reliable telecoms network.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and maintain network hardware, including routers, switches, servers, and firewalls.
- Perform regular system checks, diagnostics, and preventative maintenance to ensure optimal network performance and uptime.
- Troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software issues affecting the telecoms infrastructure .
- Implement network changes and upgrades according to established procedures and change control policies.
- Monitor network resource utilisation and capacity, reporting on performance metrics.
- Assist in the design and documentation of network infrastructure layouts and configurations.
- Support the network operations centre (NOC) in resolving complex technical incidents.
Requirements
- HND or Bachelor's degree in Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, or a related IT field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience working with telecoms infrastructure or complex network environments.
- Hands-on experience with network hardware from major vendors (e.g., Cisco, Juniper).
- Solid understanding of networking principles, protocols, and troubleshooting techniques.
- Experience with network operating systems and management tools.
- Ability to work effectively in a team and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
