About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled Telecoms Network Engineer with a specialization in Fibre Optics to join their expanding team in Plymouth, Devon . This role is crucial for the deployment, maintenance, and optimisation of our client's fibre optic network infrastructure. You will be involved in all stages of the network lifecycle, ensuring high-speed, reliable connectivity for customers in the Plymouth area and beyond. The ideal candidate will have a solid technical understanding of fibre optic technologies and practical experience in network engineering within the telecommunications sector.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, install, and configure fibre optic network components, including cables, connectors, and splicing equipment.
• Perform routine testing and diagnostics on fibre optic links to identify and resolve faults.
• Optimise network performance and ensure signal integrity for high-speed data transmission.
• Collaborate with project teams on network build-outs and upgrades, ensuring adherence to specifications.
• Maintain accurate network documentation, including network diagrams and fault records.
• Provide technical support and guidance to field technicians and other team members on fibre optic systems.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Network Engineer with a strong focus on fibre optics.
• In-depth knowledge of fibre optic principles, cable types, installation techniques, and testing procedures.
• Familiarity with optical test equipment such as OTDRs and optical power meters.
• Understanding of FTTx (Fibre to the x) architectures and related technologies.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications relevant to fibre networks.
• Relevant industry certifications (e.g., FOA) are a plus for this role in Devon .
