Telecoms Network Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled Telecoms Network Engineer to join their infrastructure team in Edinburgh . This role is essential for maintaining and enhancing the performance and reliability of their telecommunications network. You will be involved in the day-to-day operations, configuration, and troubleshooting of network equipment, ensuring seamless service delivery to customers. Key Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and maintain network hardware and software, including routers, switches, and firewalls.
• Monitor network performance and availability, identifying and resolving issues proactively.
• Perform regular network maintenance, upgrades, and patches to ensure system security and optimal operation.
• Respond to network alerts and incidents, troubleshooting and resolving problems efficiently.
• Document network configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.
• Collaborate with other IT teams to support network integration with other systems and applications.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
• 2-3 years of experience in a network engineering role, preferably within the telecommunications industry.
• Solid understanding of TCP/IP networking , routing protocols (e.g., OSPF, BGP), and switching concepts.
• Experience with network monitoring tools and network security best practices.
• Familiarity with Cisco, Juniper, or other relevant network equipment is an advantage.
• Strong analytical skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
