Telecoms Network Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled Telecoms Network Engineer to join their operational team in Derby, Derbyshire . This role is critical for the day-to-day management, maintenance, and improvement of the company's telecommunications network infrastructure. You will be responsible for ensuring network availability, performance, and security, responding to incidents, and implementing configuration changes. The successful candidate will have a solid understanding of networking principles and be eager to contribute to a stable and evolving network environment. Key Responsibilities

• Monitor network performance and availability using established tools, identifying and resolving potential issues proactively.
• Install, configure, and maintain network hardware, including routers, switches, and firewalls.
• Respond to network incidents and outages, performing root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions.
• Implement network changes and upgrades according to established change management procedures.
• Maintain accurate network documentation, including diagrams, configurations, and asset inventories.
• Support the deployment of new network services and technologies.
• Ensure network security policies are adhered to and assist in security incident response.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 2+ years of experience in network engineering or a similar role.
• Familiarity with routing protocols (e.g., OSPF, BGP) and switching technologies.
• Experience with network monitoring tools and troubleshooting methodologies .
• Understanding of network security principles.
• Good communication and problem-solving skills.
