Telecoms Network Operations Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a vigilant and skilled Telecoms Network Operations Engineer to join their essential operations team in Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire . This role is fundamental to the day-to-day smooth running of their telecommunications network, ensuring maximum uptime and rapid response to any operational challenges. You will be responsible for monitoring network performance, responding to alerts, and implementing solutions to maintain service integrity across the region. This hands-on position requires a dedicated individual committed to operational excellence within the critical Stoke-on-Trent network environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor network performance and availability using established monitoring tools.
• Respond to network alarms and incidents, performing initial diagnostics and troubleshooting.
• Implement network changes and configuration updates following strict change control procedures.
• Collaborate with other engineering teams to resolve complex network issues.
• Maintain network documentation and operational procedures.
• Perform routine health checks and preventative maintenance on network equipment.

Requirements

• Experience in a Network Operations Centre (NOC) or similar network support role.
• Solid understanding of IP networking fundamentals, routing protocols (e.g., BGP, OSPF), and switching.
• Familiarity with network monitoring systems such as SolarWinds, Nagios, or equivalent.
• Experience with fault-finding and troubleshooting of telecom networks .
• Ability to work shifts, including nights and weekends, as part of an operational rota.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team in Stoke-on-Trent .
