Telecoms Network Operations Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Telecoms Network Operations Engineer to join their essential operations team based in Edinburgh . This role is critical for maintaining the health, performance, and availability of our client's telecommunications network infrastructure. You will be involved in monitoring network performance, responding to incidents, and implementing proactive measures to prevent service disruptions. Working within a shift pattern, you will be part of a dedicated team ensuring the continuous operation of vital communication services for customers across Scotland and beyond. This is a challenging yet rewarding role for a skilled engineer passionate about network stability.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor network performance and availability using advanced Network Management Systems (NMS) .
• Respond to network alarms and incidents, performing timely diagnosis and resolution.
• Implement network configuration changes and software updates as directed.
• Participate in on-call rotations to provide 24/7 support for critical network issues.
• Collaborate with other engineering teams to troubleshoot and resolve complex network problems.
• Contribute to the development and improvement of operational procedures and documentation.

Requirements

• 3-5 years of experience in network operations or a similar role within the telecoms sector.
• Strong understanding of networking protocols such as TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and routing protocols.
• Experience with monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds, Nagios) and ticketing systems.
• Familiarity with Linux/Unix operating systems.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
