About the Role
Our client is seeking a meticulous Telecoms Network Planning Engineer to contribute to the strategic development of their network infrastructure from Edinburgh . This role focuses on forecasting future network needs, capacity planning, and designing network expansions to meet growing demand. You will work closely with operational teams and technology partners to ensure our network remains robust and future-proof. This position offers an excellent platform for an engineer interested in the strategic side of telecommunications, shaping the network's evolution.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop long-term network expansion and upgrade plans based on traffic analysis and growth projections.
- Perform capacity planning and resource allocation for various network segments, including core, transport, and access.
- Design new network solutions and optimize existing ones to improve performance, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
- Create detailed network designs, including topology diagrams, equipment specifications, and IP addressing schemes.
- Collaborate with vendors to evaluate new technologies and solutions for network enhancement.
- Prepare technical reports and presentations for management on network development plans and strategies.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related technical field.
- 5+ years of experience in telecoms network design and planning.
- Strong understanding of network technologies, including IP routing , MPLS, DWDM, and wireless access technologies.
- Proficiency in network planning tools and capacity management software.
- Analytical skills to interpret traffic data and forecast network requirements.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
