Telecoms Network Security Analyst

About the Role

Our client is seeking a vigilant and analytical Telecoms Network Security Analyst to join their security operations team based in Portsmouth . This role is essential for safeguarding the integrity, confidentiality, and availability of the company's telecommunications infrastructure and data. You will be responsible for monitoring network traffic, identifying potential threats, investigating security incidents, and implementing preventative measures. The ideal candidate possesses a keen eye for detail, a strong understanding of cybersecurity principles, and practical experience in network security tools and protocols, contributing to a robust defence posture in a critical operational environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor network security alerts and events using SIEM and other security tools to detect and respond to threats in real-time.
• Investigate security incidents, perform forensic analysis, and document findings to support remediation efforts.
• Implement and manage security controls, including firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDPS), and VPNs.
• Conduct regular vulnerability assessments and penetration testing to identify and address network weaknesses.
• Develop and maintain security policies, procedures, and best practices to ensure compliance and enhance the overall security posture.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 3+ years of experience in network security analysis, incident response, or cybersecurity operations.
• Proficiency with network security tools such as firewalls, IDPS, VPNs, and SIEM platforms.
• Solid understanding of network protocols (TCP/IP, HTTP/S, DNS) and common cyberattack vectors.
• Relevant security certifications such as CompTIA Security+, CEH, or CISSP are a strong plus.
