Telecoms Network Security Specialist

About the Role

Our client is seeking a diligent and skilled Telecoms Network Security Specialist to enhance their security posture in Oxford . This role is vital for protecting the integrity, confidentiality, and availability of our client's telecommunications network infrastructure against cyber threats. You will be responsible for implementing and managing security measures, monitoring network activity for suspicious behaviour, and responding to security incidents. The ideal candidate possesses a strong understanding of network security principles and a proactive approach to safeguarding critical telecoms assets.

Key Responsibilities

• Implement, configure, and maintain network security devices, including firewalls, IDS/IPS, VPNs, and security gateways.
• Monitor network traffic and systems for security breaches, intrusions, and other malicious activity.
• Develop and enforce network security policies, procedures, and best practices across the organization.
• Respond to and investigate security incidents, performing root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions.
• Conduct regular vulnerability assessments and penetration testing to identify and remediate security weaknesses.
• Stay informed about emerging threats, vulnerabilities, and security technologies relevant to the telecoms industry in Oxford .

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Network Security Specialist or in a similar cybersecurity role within a telecoms environment.
• Strong understanding of network protocols, security architectures, and common cyber attack vectors.
• Proficiency with security tools and technologies, such as SIEM, endpoint security, and vulnerability scanners.
• Experience in developing and implementing security policies and incident response plans.
• Relevant security certifications such as CompTIA Security+, CISSP, or CCNA Security are highly desirable.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with meticulous attention to detail.
