Telecoms Radio Frequency Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a specialized and analytical Telecoms Radio Frequency (RF) Engineer to join their team in Oxford . This role is critical for the design, optimization, and performance management of wireless communication systems. You will be involved in planning and deploying RF infrastructure, conducting site surveys, analysing signal propagation, and ensuring the quality and coverage of wireless networks. This is a hands-on, field-oriented position requiring technical expertise and a practical understanding of RF principles. The successful candidate will contribute to the robust performance of our client's wireless services across the region, working from our Oxford base.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and plan RF network layouts, including antenna placement, power levels, and frequency allocation.
• Conduct RF site surveys and analyse propagation characteristics to ensure optimal network coverage and capacity.
• Install, configure, and troubleshoot RF equipment and associated systems.
• Perform RF performance measurements and analysis, identifying areas for optimization and improvement.
• Collaborate with network engineers to integrate RF systems with the wider telecommunications network.
• Stay updated on new RF technologies, standards, and best practices in wireless communications.

Requirements

• Proven experience as an RF Engineer or in a similar role within the telecommunications industry.
• Strong understanding of RF principles, propagation models, and wireless technologies (e.g., 4G, 5G, Wi-Fi).
• Proficiency with RF planning and simulation tools (e.g., Atoll, Planet).
• Experience with RF measurement equipment and data analysis.
• Ability to interpret technical specifications and perform hands-on equipment installation and testing.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related technical discipline.
