Telecoms Test Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a detail-oriented Telecoms Test Engineer to join their quality assurance team, based in their Derby, Derbyshire facility. This role is essential for ensuring the performance, reliability, and functionality of new and existing telecommunications products and systems before they are deployed to customers. You will design, develop, and execute comprehensive test plans, identify defects, and work closely with development teams to resolve issues. Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and execute test plans and test cases for telecommunications equipment and software.
• Perform various types of testing, including functional, performance, regression, and integration testing.
• Identify, document, and track software defects and hardware issues using bug tracking systems.
• Collaborate with development engineers to troubleshoot and resolve issues identified during testing.
• Set up and maintain test environments, including hardware and software configurations.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of testing processes and methodologies.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in test engineering within the telecoms industry.
• Familiarity with testing methodologies and tools for network devices and communication protocols.
• Experience with IP networking concepts and common protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, SIP, RTP).
• Ability to automate test cases is a plus.
• Strong analytical skills and a methodical approach to problem-solving.
