Job Description
I have a fantastic opportunity for a tooling engineer to join a heavy, high-volume production site in Bilston near Wolverhampton. My client is well established within its field and produces some big brand products for the likes of Screwfix, B&Q and Wickes. We are looking for a tooling engineer who has experience with surface and cylindrical grinding. You will be making and repairing dies for extrusion machinery.
This day's-based role with flexible hours and would suit someone local to Wolverhampton with previous experience working in a manufacturing environment. This would be a great role for someone looking for stability, great hours and a large supportive engineering team.
Tooling Engineer Benefits
- £34,647 (pay award pending September).
- OT at premium rates (x1.5).
- 33 days holiday including bank holidays.
- 5% company pension.
- Flexible working hours. (37.5 hours a week).
Tooling Engineer Duties
- Manufacture, repair, and refurbish precision tooling for extrusion machines.
- Set and operate cylindrical grinding machines to achieve extremely tight tolerances and high-quality surface finishes.
- Operate other toolroom equipment including:
- Surface grinders
- Tool & cutter grinders
- CNC/manual lathes
- Milling machines
- Read and interpret engineering drawings and CAD models.
- Measure finished components using precision measuring equipment.
Tooling Engineer Requirements
- Extensive experience in cylindrical grinding (essential).
- Strong manual machining skills.
- Ability to work to tight tolerances (often ±0.005 mm or better).
- Excellent understanding of engineering drawings and GD&T.
- Knowledge of tool steels, heat treatment, and finishing processes.
- Strong problem-solving and fault-finding ability.
- Good attention to detail and quality focus.
