Job Description
Traffic Dispatcher – Full Time – Competitive Salary + Great Benefits
Monday to Friday and between the hours of 08:30 – 17:00 (40 hr week)
Interviews: w/c 29th June
A quick look at the role. The position will effectively support the day‑to‑day operations of the depot through successful allocation of vehicles to ensure best‑in‑class service delivery. It will also ensure all Health and Safety standards, environmental requirements and O‑Licence compliance are maintained. In addition to transport duties, the role includes hands‑on activity to support employee engagement, continuous improvement projects and productivity and quality initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing route efficiency and utilising optimum disposal outlets within the area to ensure effective use of vehicles and facilities.
- Managing driver availability and coverage in line with legislation and company procedures to guarantee suitable coverage at all times.
- Performing administrative duties, including input of pay, bonus and disposal information onto company systems.
- Proactive vehicle management, liaising with fleet, ensuring safe vehicle operations, wheel security and monitoring vehicle gross weights.
- Supervising daily vehicle availability, ensuring drivers have completed checks in accordance with company policy.
- Contributing to ongoing cost control by seeking efficiency improvements and reducing operating costs, e.g., analysing depot reports.
- Ensuring all administrative tasks associated with the dispatch office are completed, including timesheets, tachograph records, payroll records, holiday rotas and resolution of QLS.
Essential Criteria for the Role
- Strong knowledge of the local area.
- Exceptional communication skills, able to write and speak clearly on a one‑to‑one basis and via phone with all levels, including management, team members and internal/external customers.
- Ability to plan, organise and prioritise effectively.
- Experience working to strict deadlines in a time‑critical environment.
- A willingness to adapt and develop skill‑sets and knowledge as required by the role/organisation.
- Computer literate – comfortable using business software and Microsoft Office Suite, with strong knowledge of Excel.
