About Calusade Hotels
Calusade Hotels is an Irish-born, people-centred hospitality group with a growing portfolio of hotels across Ireland and Canada.
Our purpose is simple: to make hospitality feel personal.
We believe exceptional guest experiences begin with exceptional people. We want every colleague to feel welcomed, supported, recognised and given the opportunity to grow creating a culture where our people are genuinely Proud to Belong .
Our culture is guided by our three values:
Caring | Consistency | Community
As we continue to grow and strengthen our Group standards, we are now recruiting an experienced and passionate Training & Development Manager to lead the learning, leadership and capability agenda across Calusade Hotels.
About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a genuine passion for people, hospitality and excellence to build and shape learning and development across a growing hotel group.
Reporting directly to the Group Head of People & Culture, you will work closely with General Managers, Heads of Department, People & Culture colleagues, Operations and hotel teams to ensure learning is practical, engaging and embedded in day-to-day hotel operations.
This is not simply a training-coordination role.
You will have the opportunity to develop the Calusade Training Academy, create meaningful leadership and management development programmes, strengthen operational and service capability and help build clear career pathways for colleagues who want to grow with us.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and continually develop our two-day Calusade Great Start orientation programme, creating a consistent and welcoming experience for new and existing colleagues.
- Design, develop and implement the Calusade Training Academy, bringing together onboarding, core operational skills, service excellence, leadership development and career progression.
- Develop and lead a structured Management Development Programme for supervisors, emerging leaders, managers and high-potential colleagues.
- Create a Trainee / Graduate Management Programme, including hotel rotations, mentoring, structured development and clear progression opportunities.
- Develop the Calusade Service Academy, strengthening service standards, communication, guest recovery, accessibility and role competence.
- Work with Operations, People Operations and hotel subject-matter experts to translate approved SOPs into practical training, coaching tools and competency sign-off.
- Lead the Group mandatory-learning framework, including training needs, audiences, refresher requirements and learning interventions.
- Coordinate health & safety learning requirements with competent operational and H&S partners, including areas such as induction, fire safety, manual handling, first aid, food safety and allergens.
- Support leadership development, succession planning, talent reviews, PDPs, mentoring and internal career pathways.
- Conduct Group and hotel training-needs analysis using business priorities, employee feedback, PDPs, succession plans, audit results and guest/service trends.
- Build strategic partnerships with colleges, universities, hospitality schools, apprenticeship providers and professional bodies.
- Develop placements, internships, apprenticeships, graduate opportunities, guest lectures, site visits and industry projects that strengthen our future talent pipeline.
- Manage relationships with external learning and accredited partners, including ILM or equivalent programmes, ensuring quality, value and measurable outcomes.
- Develop train-the-trainer capability so hotel leaders and P&C teams can confidently reinforce Group standards.
- Work with People Operations on MAPAL Flow, learning records and completion reporting, while retaining ownership of learning quality and effectiveness.
- Evaluate learning beyond attendance measuring understanding, application, competence and impact on colleague and guest experience.
- Manage the annual Group learning calendar and agreed training budget.
- Support wider People & Culture priorities including Great Place to Work, Proud to Belong initiatives, careers events, employee engagement, recognition and talent activity when required.
About You:
You will be an experienced learning and development professional who is equally comfortable facilitating a leadership programme, working alongside colleagues on the hotel floor or partnering with senior leaders on future capability needs.
You will ideally have strong experience in Learning & Development, Training or People Development, preferably within hotels, hospitality or another multi-site service environment.
You will bring proven experience designing and delivering engaging learning for frontline colleagues, supervisors and managers, together with strong facilitation, coaching, communication and project-management skills.
Experience in leadership development, service standards, operational learning, competency frameworks and management development will be important.
We would particularly welcome candidates who have experience building relationships with colleges, universities, apprenticeship providers or other external learning partners.
Ideally, you will be CIPD qualified and/or hold a relevant Level7 UK or 9 Irish qualification in Learning & Development, HR, People Development or a related discipline. Train-the-Trainer, ILM or other recognised learning and leadership qualifications would also be advantageous.
You will also need to be comfortable travelling regularly between Calusade Hotels properties in line with the training calendar and business requirements.
What We Offer:
We offer a competitive salary and benefits package together with the opportunity to play a significant role in shaping the future of learning and development within Calusade Hotels.
You will have the opportunity to build Group programmes, work closely with senior hotel leaders, develop future leaders from within and create partnerships across the education and hospitality sectors.
Benefits include access to Group hotel rates, meals on duty where applicable, pension and healthcare benefits, employee wellbeing support, recognition programmes, ongoing professional development and opportunities for career progression across the Group.
Why Calusade?
At Calusade, we want learning to be more than a course or a certificate.
We want our people to have the confidence, skills and opportunity to grow whether that means becoming an outstanding supervisor, progressing into management or building a long-term career in hospitality.
If you are passionate about people, learning, hospitality and excellence and would like the opportunity to build something meaningful, we would love to hear from you.
