About the Role
Our client is seeking an experienced and strategic Transport Manager to lead their transportation operations based in Bristol . This senior role involves overseeing all aspects of the company's transport fleet, ensuring compliance, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness. You will manage a team of drivers and logistics staff, develop transport strategies, and maintain strong relationships with external partners. This hybrid position requires a leader who can effectively manage operations on the ground while also contributing to strategic planning, leveraging the flexibility offered by our Bristol hub.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive transport strategies to meet business objectives.
- Manage the daily operations of the transport fleet, ensuring timely and safe deliveries.
- Oversee driver recruitment, training, scheduling, and performance management.
- Ensure full compliance with all transportation regulations, including H&S and working hours.
- Negotiate contracts and maintain relationships with third-party logistics providers and suppliers.
- Monitor transport costs, identify savings opportunities, and manage budgets effectively.
- Implement and utilize transport management systems (TMS) for optimal route planning and tracking.
Requirements
- Extensive experience in a transport management or senior logistics role, ideally within the South West England region.
- Strong knowledge of road transport regulations, fleet management, and supply chain operations.
- Proven leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent negotiation and communication abilities.
- Proficiency in using Transport Management Systems (TMS) and relevant software.
- A relevant qualification in Logistics, Transport, or Supply Chain Management is preferred.
