Transport Operator

Traffic Operator, Felixstowe Salary: £45,000

Due to continued growth, our client is seeking an experienced and Traffic Operator to join their busy transport operations team. This is a key position responsible for the day-to-day planning and coordination of their fleet, ensuring that customer requirements are met efficiently while maintaining compliance with all transport legislation and company procedures.

Key Responsibilities

• Planning and allocating daily transport movements

• Monitoring vehicle and driver activity to maximise operational efficiency

• Liaising with customers regarding delivery schedules, collections, and service updates

• Managing driver communications and providing operational support

• Ensuring compliance with Working Time Directive, Driver Hours, and tachograph regulations

• Maintaining accurate transport records and operational documentation

• Responding to operational issues and implementing effective solutions

• Coordinating with warehouse and traffic teams to ensure service delivery targets are achieved

• Supporting the achievement of KPIs relating to service, utilisation, and cost control

• Building and maintaining strong relationships with customers and suppliers

Requirements

• Previous experience in a Traffic Operator, Transport Planner, or similar transport operations role

• Strong understanding of UK transport legislation and compliance requirements

• Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills

• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritise workload effectively

• Strong communication skills with the ability to build relationships at all levels

• Proficient in transport management systems and Microsoft Office applications

• Knowledge of container, general haulage, or logistics operations would be advantageous

• Team player with a flexible attitude
