About the Role

Our client is seeking an efficient and proactive Transport Planner to join their logistics team based in Portsmouth . In this crucial role, you will be responsible for planning and optimizing the company's transport operations, ensuring deliveries are made on time and cost-effectively. You will work closely with warehouse staff, drivers, and customers to manage fleet schedules and resolve any transportation-related issues. This hybrid role offers the flexibility to work both from the office and remotely, supporting a balanced work-life approach.

Key Responsibilities

Plan and schedule daily transport routes for the company's fleet, optimizing for efficiency and cost.
Allocate resources effectively, assigning drivers and vehicles to specific routes.
Monitor delivery progress and proactively address any deviations or issues that arise.
Communicate with drivers, providing them with clear instructions and support throughout their routes.
Liaise with customers regarding delivery schedules and address any concerns they may have.
Maintain accurate records of transport activities, including mileage, fuel consumption, and delivery times.
Ensure compliance with all relevant transport legislation and regulations.

Requirements

Proven experience in a transport planning or logistics coordination role.
Strong understanding of route planning software and transport management systems (TMS).
Excellent geographical knowledge of the UK, particularly the South Coast region.
Ability to work effectively under pressure and make quick, informed decisions.
Good communication and interpersonal skills for liaising with drivers and stakeholders.
Familiarity with UK road transport regulations and compliance standards.
