About the Role
Our client is seeking a meticulous Transport Planner to join their logistics department in Bristol . This role is central to ensuring the efficient and cost-effective planning of all transportation activities, optimizing routes and schedules for a diverse fleet. You will work closely with drivers, warehouse teams, and customer service to manage daily operations and resolve logistical challenges. This is a key position for an individual with strong analytical skills and a deep understanding of transport operations in the South West England region.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and optimize daily delivery routes for the company's fleet, considering delivery windows, vehicle capacity, and traffic conditions.
- Coordinate with drivers to ensure adherence to planned schedules and provide support for any on-road issues.
- Communicate effectively with warehouse staff and customer service teams regarding dispatch and delivery statuses.
- Monitor transport performance, identify inefficiencies, and propose solutions for improvement.
- Ensure all transport planning complies with legal requirements, including driver hours regulations (WTD).
- Maintain accurate records of planned routes, delivery times, and any deviations.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Transport Planner or in a similar logistics planning role.
- Proficiency in using transport planning software and route optimization tools.
- Strong understanding of transport operations, vehicle types, and UK road networks.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen eye for detail.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills to liaise effectively with various stakeholders.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment, specifically in the Bristol area.
