Transport Planner

About the Role

Our client is looking for a strategic and organized Transport Planner to join their dynamic logistics team in Wolverhampton . In this role, you will be responsible for planning and optimizing the company's transport operations, ensuring efficient route planning, vehicle utilization, and timely deliveries. You will work closely with drivers, warehouse staff, and customer service teams to manage the flow of goods and resolve any logistical challenges. Key Responsibilities

• Plan and optimize daily delivery routes to maximize efficiency and minimize costs.
• Schedule and coordinate vehicle movements, ensuring compliance with traffic regulations and driver hours.
• Liaise with drivers to provide route information and resolve issues encountered during transit.
• Monitor transport performance, analyze data, and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Manage relationships with external transport providers and negotiate rates where applicable.
• Ensure all relevant transport documentation is accurate and maintained.

Requirements

• Proven experience in transport planning or a similar logistics coordination role.
• Strong knowledge of route optimization software and transport management systems (TMS) .
• Excellent understanding of UK road networks and transportation legislation.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
