About the Role
Our client is seeking a skilled and organized Transport Planner to manage their logistics operations from their base in Plymouth . This role is vital in ensuring the efficient, cost-effective, and timely movement of goods across the UK. You will be responsible for planning daily routes, managing vehicle capacity, liaising with drivers and customers, and ensuring compliance with transport regulations. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of logistics planning software and excellent problem-solving abilities to navigate the dynamic challenges of the transport industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and optimize daily delivery routes for a fleet of vehicles, ensuring efficient utilization of resources.
- Schedule and coordinate transport activities, including loading and unloading times.
- Communicate effectively with drivers, providing clear instructions and support throughout their routes.
- Monitor shipment progress, proactively identify potential delays, and implement solutions to mitigate disruptions.
- Maintain accurate records of all transport activities, including mileage, fuel consumption, and delivery times.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant transport regulations, including working hours and vehicle maintenance standards.
Requirements
- Previous experience in a Transport Planning role or a similar logistics coordination position.
- Proficiency in using transport planning software and route optimization tools.
- Strong understanding of UK road networks and transportation regulations.
- Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Problem-solving aptitude and the ability to make quick, informed decisions under pressure.
