About the Role

Our client is seeking an enthusiastic and organised Underwriting Assistant to support their specialist Marine Insurance team based in Southampton . This is an entry-level to intermediate role perfect for someone keen to learn the intricacies of marine underwriting. You will provide vital administrative and technical support to the underwriting team, assisting with risk assessment documentation, policy issuance, and client liaison. This role offers a fantastic stepping stone into a specialised area of the insurance market within a well-established firm.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive administrative support to the marine underwriting team, including managing correspondence and scheduling meetings.
• Assist underwriters in gathering and analyzing information for risk assessment, such as vessel details, cargo manifests, and operational data.
• Prepare and issue policy documentation, endorsements, and renewal documents accurately.
• Liaise with brokers and clients to gather necessary information and respond to basic inquiries.
• Maintain and update underwriting records and databases, ensuring data integrity.
• Support the team in market research and competitor analysis related to marine insurance products.

Requirements

• Previous administrative or assistant experience, ideally within a financial services or insurance environment.
• Excellent organisational skills and a keen eye for detail.
• Strong IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
