About the Role
Our client is seeking a meticulous and analytical Underwriting Specialist to join their esteemed insurance team based in Newcastle upon Tyne . You will be responsible for reviewing applications, analyzing data, and making informed decisions on policy issuance, working closely with sales teams and risk management. Key Responsibilities
- Assess and underwrite new insurance applications, evaluating risks based on established guidelines and data analysis.
- Determine appropriate premium rates and policy terms, ensuring profitability and adherence to risk appetite.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, regulatory changes, and competitor activities.
- Collaborate with agents and brokers to gather necessary information and explain underwriting decisions.
- Review and manage existing policies, making adjustments or decisions based on changes in risk profile.
- Contribute to the development and refinement of underwriting policies and procedures.
Requirements
- Demonstrable experience in insurance underwriting , preferably within a specific line of business.
- Strong analytical and decision-making skills with a high level of accuracy.
- Excellent understanding of risk assessment principles and financial analysis.
- Proficiency in underwriting software and data analysis tools.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to liaise with internal and external stakeholders.
