About the Role
Our client is looking for an innovative Upstream Data Scientist to join their team in Cambridge . This role is pivotal in leveraging advanced data analytics, machine learning, and AI techniques to drive efficiency and discovery in their exploration and production (E&P) operations. You will work with large, complex datasets from seismic, well logs, production, and operational data to uncover insights, build predictive models, and optimize decision-making across the upstream oil and gas value chain. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement machine learning models for reservoir characterization, production forecasting, and anomaly detection.
- Process, clean, and analyze diverse upstream datasets, including seismic, geological, and production data.
- Collaborate with geoscientists, reservoir engineers, and production engineers to identify data-driven opportunities.
- Build data visualizations and dashboards to communicate complex findings to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Stay abreast of the latest advancements in data science, AI, and their applications in the oil and gas industry.
- Contribute to the development of data strategies and best practices within the E&P domain.
Requirements
- Master's or PhD in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Physics, or a related quantitative field.
- 3+ years of experience as a Data Scientist, with a focus on upstream oil and gas applications.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or R, and relevant data science libraries (e.g., scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch).
- Experience with big data technologies (e.g., Spark) and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure).
- Strong understanding of statistical modeling, machine learning algorithms, and data mining techniques.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to translate business needs into analytical solutions.
