About the Role
Our client is seeking an experienced Urban Design Architect to join their innovative team based in Belfast . This role is crucial for shaping the future development of urban landscapes, focusing on creating cohesive, sustainable, and vibrant community spaces. You will lead the conceptualization and design development of masterplans, public realm strategies, and large-scale regeneration projects. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of urban planning principles, community engagement, and the architectural challenges unique to regenerating city environments, contributing significantly to the built heritage of Northern Ireland .
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and lead the design of urban masterplans and strategic development frameworks.
- Conduct research and analysis of urban contexts, identifying opportunities and constraints for development.
- Engage with local communities, stakeholders, and planning authorities to foster consensus and collaboration.
- Prepare high-quality design proposals, visualisations, and reports for urban design projects.
- Ensure designs promote sustainability, accessibility, social equity, and economic viability within urban settings.
Requirements
- Professional qualification in Architecture or Urban Planning, with a focus on urban design.
- Demonstrable experience in leading urban design projects and masterplanning initiatives.
- Proficiency in urban design software , GIS, and visualization tools (e.g., SketchUp, Lumion).
- Strong understanding of planning policy, development economics, and public realm design principles.
- Excellent presentation, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
