About the Role
Our client is seeking a meticulous Vehicle Damage Assessor to join their claims and repair management team, serving the Southampton area. In this role, you will be responsible for accurately assessing the extent of damage to vehicles following an incident, determining the necessary repair methods, and estimating costs. You will liaise with customers, repairers, and insurance companies to ensure efficient and fair claims processing. This position requires a strong understanding of vehicle construction, repair techniques, and an eye for detail to provide accurate and consistent assessments, contributing to the effective management of automotive insurance claims and repairs within the region.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough inspections of damaged vehicles to determine the scope of repairs required.
- Prepare detailed damage reports, including photographic evidence and cost estimations.
- Liaise with customers to explain the assessment process and findings.
- Communicate effectively with approved repairers to discuss and agree on repair methodologies.
- Approve repair invoices based on the initial assessment and agreed works.
- Ensure all assessments and documentation comply with industry standards and company policies.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Vehicle Damage Assessor or in a similar claims assessment role.
- Strong knowledge of automotive repair techniques, vehicle components, and materials.
- Proficiency in using estimating software (e.g., Audatex, Glassmatix) is highly desirable.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in reporting.
- Strong negotiation and communication skills for interacting with various stakeholders.
- A valid UK driving licence and the ability to travel to different locations for inspections.
