About the Role

Our client is looking for a meticulous and analytical Vehicle Damage Assessor to join their claims assessment team in Portsmouth . This role involves evaluating the extent of damage to vehicles following accidents, estimating repair costs, and ensuring claims are processed accurately and efficiently. You will work closely with policyholders, repairers, and the insurance team to provide clear and concise damage assessments. This position requires a keen eye for detail, a strong understanding of vehicle repair methodologies, and excellent communication skills to navigate the insurance claims process effectively, working within a hybrid model.

Key Responsibilities

• Inspect damaged vehicles to assess the extent of mechanical and structural damage.
• Prepare detailed repair estimates using industry-standard software and methodologies.
• Determine the fair cost of repairs, considering parts, labour, and paintwork.
• Communicate assessment findings clearly and professionally to policyholders, repairers, and internal stakeholders.
• Identify potential fraud indicators and escalate concerns as necessary.
• Ensure all assessments and documentation comply with company policies and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

• Previous experience in a similar role, such as Vehicle Damage Assessor , claims handler, or experienced motor engineer.
• Strong knowledge of vehicle repair processes, parts pricing, and labour times.
• Proficiency in using estimating software (e.g., Audatex, Glassmatix).
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a methodical approach.
• Strong communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to explain complex information clearly.
• A valid UK driving licence is essential for site visits.
