About the Role
Our client is seeking a meticulous and technically proficient Vehicle Damage Assessor to join their claims handling team in Sunderland . In this crucial role, you will be responsible for accurately assessing the extent of damage to vehicles following an incident, determining repair costs, and advising on the best course of action. You will work closely with policyholders, repairers, and internal claims handlers to ensure fair and efficient claims processing. This position requires a strong understanding of vehicle mechanics, excellent observational skills, and the ability to communicate technical information clearly to a non-technical audience, playing a vital role in the insurance claims process.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough inspections of damaged vehicles, assessing the type and severity of damage accurately.
- Utilize specialized software and industry knowledge to estimate repair costs, including labor, parts, and materials.
- Prepare detailed damage reports and repair recommendations for internal claims handlers and external stakeholders.
- Communicate effectively with policyholders, explaining assessment findings and the claims process.
- Liaise with approved repairers to discuss repair methodologies and ensure adherence to industry standards.
- Identify potential fraud indicators and report any suspicious findings to the relevant departments.
Requirements
- Proven experience in vehicle repair, estimating, or claims assessment, ideally with an ATA qualification or equivalent.
- Strong knowledge of vehicle construction, mechanical systems, and common repair techniques.
- Proficiency in using estimating software such as Audatex or Glassmatix.
- Excellent observational skills and a keen eye for detail in assessing damage.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to negotiate and explain technical details clearly.
- A proactive approach to managing a caseload and meeting assessment deadlines.
