Veterinary Surgeon – Maternity Cover
Clifton, Nottingham
We are looking for an experienced veterinary surgeon to join our friendly and supportive team on a fixed term maternity cover contract.
About Us
Clifton Vets for Pets is a well‑established, independent veterinary practice located in the heart of Clifton (Nottingham). We are dedicated to providing exceptional care to pets and outstanding service to their owners. Our ethos is about enjoying your job while delivering a high standard of care. We see several big cases each day and run 15‑minute consultations, with allocated time each day to follow up, report results, attend to inpatients, and carry out investigative work.
Our practice has a fantastic, friendly, and welcoming team of 3 vets, 5 nurses, a reception team, and a practice manager. The Practice Owner, 24 years qualified, brings a wealth of medical and surgical knowledge. We are equipped with state‑of‑the‑art facilities including digital and dental x‑ray, ultrasound, ECG, ultrasonic dental, blood pressure monitoring, suction, cautery, class 4 laser therapy, and infusion pumps, plus an in‑house lab.
Team bonding is important to us – we hold regular social events and provide regular drink and snacks to our staff. Clifton is a vibrant and well‑established residential area with strong community spirit, closely connected to Nottingham city centre via tram and bus, and near major motorways.
What We Are Looking For
- A qualified Veterinary Surgeon with RCVS registration.
- At least 3‑4 years’ experience in small‑animal practice, confident in both consult and surgery.
- Experience in routine surgical procedures; a surgical bias is welcomed.
- Flexible with full or part‑time application, supportive of your preferred schedule.
- Working hours: 8:30 am‑6:00 pm (pay until 6:30 pm), ideally 3 or 4 days per week.
- Availability for 8:30 am‑12:00 pm Saturday mornings (1:3 rotation).
- No out‑of‑hours or bank‑holiday commitments.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A passion for animal welfare and high‑quality patient care.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
