Job Title: Ward Clerk

Trust Location: Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS FT

Location: North Devon District Hospital, Raleigh Park, Barnstaple, Devon, EX31 4ST

Working Pattern: 37.5 hours per week, Mon - Fri, 8am - 4pm

Duration: 4 Weeks - Could be Extended

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• The post holder is responsible for organising their own workload and managing all administrative tasks associated with the Intensive Care unit.

• To undertake reception duties as the first face and voice of the ward/Organisation and demonstrate professionalism and compassion whilst adhering to Trust confidentiality policy.

• To signpost patients, public, all MDT members and provide non-medical information and advice.

• To manage the ward environment around the two areas, Intensive Care and High Dependency Unit to provide a calm and peaceful environment.

• The post holder may not receive daily supervision and should be able to take some responsibility for their work and that of others.

• To work within the MDT to progress the planned discharge/transfer pathways of patients.

• To be responsible for the management and ordering of ward resources in the most effective and efficient way, under the Trust Financial SFI, against the ward budget.

• Involved in the development of administrative systems to support new ways of working.

• To take responsibility for the organisation and minutes of ward meetings and educational events as required.

• To assist in the administrative duties associated with the recruitment of staff, Sickness management, maintain personnel files and Hr matters.

• The coordination, daily organisation and administration for all in patient activities and attendees for ICU follow up Clinic.

• Organising and booking appointments for Intensive Care follow-up clinic and recording outcomes.

• To complete Critical Care network data inputs as required.

• To assist in the production of governance data within the unit.

• Interact with the Southwest Critical Care Network as required.
