Waste Operative Doncaster Royal Infirmary, Thorne Road, Doncaster DN2 5LT Band 2 - £12.92/hr

Full time – 37.5 hours per week – Temporary based employment, ongoing with no set end date. Monday to Friday 08.00-16.00 - There may also be an opportunity to work 10:00 to 18:00, depending on operational requirements.

The role will support the Trust's waste collection service and help maintain compliance with the required waste management procedures across the hospital.

Key Responsibilities

• The successful candidate will be responsible for the collection, movement and handling of clinical and non-clinical waste from areas throughout the hospital.

• The role is predominantly manual and involves regular movement and handling of different types of waste across the hospital site. This will include collecting waste from clinical and non-clinical areas and transporting it to the appropriate waste collection and storage areas.

• The role will require staff to follow Trust procedures for the safe handling, movement and disposal of waste and to always maintain appropriate standards.

• Other duties may include cleaning and maintaining waste areas and supporting wider facilities duties that fall within the responsibilities of a Service Assistant.

To be considered for this role:

• Previous experience in a manual, cleaning, waste management, facilities or service-based role would be beneficial.

• The ability to undertake regular manual work and move waste safely across a hospital environment is essential.

• Candidates must be able to follow instructions and established procedures relating to waste handling, health and safety and infection prevention.

• Good attention to detail and a reliable approach to work are required.

• The successful candidate will need to work effectively as part of a wider facilities team and maintain professional standards when working across clinical and non-clinical areas.

• This is a physically active role and candidates should be comfortable with regular walking, lifting, moving and handling waste throughout the working day.
