Water Resources Civil Engineer (Remote)

About the Role

Our client is seeking a specialist Water Resources Civil Engineer to join their remote team, supporting projects primarily within the Portsmouth region and across the UK. This role is vital for the sustainable management and design of water-related infrastructure, including flood defenses, drainage systems, and water supply networks. You will apply your expertise in hydrological modeling and hydraulic design to solve complex water challenges, contributing to resilient communities and environmental protection. As a remote team member, you'll collaborate closely with project managers and other specialists, utilizing advanced digital tools to deliver innovative solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Undertake hydrological and hydraulic analysis for flood risk assessments and drainage design.
• Design and specify water infrastructure, including surface water management systems, foul sewers, and water supply networks.
• Develop models using industry-standard software to simulate water flow, flood extents, and system performance.
• Prepare technical reports, design drawings, and specifications for water-related projects.
• Advise clients and stakeholders on water management strategies, regulatory compliance, and environmental best practices.
• Collaborate effectively with remote colleagues, clients, and regulatory authorities to ensure successful project outcomes.

Requirements

• Degree in Civil Engineering or Environmental Engineering with a focus on water resources.
• Proven experience in hydrological and hydraulic modeling software (e.g., InfoWorks, HEC-RAS, EPANET).
• Strong understanding of flood risk management, drainage design principles, and UK water regulations.
• Excellent technical writing and communication skills, suitable for a remote working environment.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a dispersed team, managing workload efficiently.
• Familiarity with GIS software is advantageous.
