Water Resources Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a qualified Water Resources Engineer to join their team in Derby , operating under a hybrid working model. This role is dedicated to the planning, design, and management of water-related infrastructure projects, including flood risk management, drainage systems, and water supply networks. You will contribute to sustainable water solutions by analyzing hydrological data and developing effective engineering designs to address water challenges.

Key Responsibilities

• Undertake hydrological analysis and hydraulic modelling for flood defence and drainage schemes.
• Design and specify water infrastructure, including pipes, pumps, reservoirs, and flood alleviation measures.
• Prepare technical reports, design drawings, and tender documentation for water resource projects.
• Ensure compliance with environmental regulations, water quality standards, and relevant legislation.
• Collaborate with environmental scientists, stakeholders, and regulatory bodies.
• Provide technical advice and support throughout the project lifecycle, from inception to construction.

Requirements

• Degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in water resources engineering or flood risk management.
• Proficiency in hydraulic modelling software (e.g., HEC-RAS, InfoWorks) and CAD.
• Strong understanding of hydrological processes, flood risk assessment, and drainage design principles.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a hybrid environment and communicate technical information clearly.
