Workshop Manager - Commercial Vehicle Workshop (Cheltenham Area)
Salary: £55,000 + performance accountability

The Role
This workshop is the engine room of the operation. With a fleet of around 100 commercial vehicles plus specialist jetting, tanker and survey units, the pressure is real - and the impact is huge. As the Workshop Manager, you take full ownership of day-to-day workshop performance, standards, safety and results.
You're the person who keeps the wheels turning - literally.
What You'll Lead
Fleet Control - Stay ahead of defects, downtime and daily operational demands.
Work Allocation - Prioritise jobs, direct the foreman and keep technicians productive and focused.
Supplier Negotiation - Secure the right parts at the right price.
Compliance Management - Own regulatory standards, audits, induction processes and workshop safety culture.
Process Improvement - Build, refine and enforce systems that keep the workshop running at a high standard.
Team Development - Coach technicians, support apprentices and drive a "one team" mentality.
Performance Reporting - Deliver clear reports to senior leadership and hit strict KPIs.
Operational Oversight - Ensure all vehicles - internal fleet and external client units - are maintained, serviced and ready for work.
What You Bring
Experience managing technicians with mixed skill levels.
Ability to juggle changing priorities without dropping standards.
A track record of spotting inefficiencies and fixing them.
Strong communication skills and confidence producing clear reports.
Sharp problem-solving ability and a mindset for continuous improvement.
High personal integrity - someone trusted to run the workshop independently.
Excellent attention to detail and a focus on end results.
Solid IT skills (Microsoft Office essential).
Full UK driving licence.
Previous experience in a commercial workshop environment - ideally transport or heavy vehicle operations.
