Yard Manager

Job Title: Yard Manager

Full-Time, Permanent

Salary: Dependent on experience

Hours: MondayFriday, 7am4pm

The Role

You will be responsible for:

• Day to day running and organisation of the yard.
• Monitoring upcoming jobs and ensuring required stock is available.
• Maintaining accurate stock levels and ordering requirements in good time.
• Checking deliveries and ensuring products are correctly stored and allocated.
• Preparing the correct products for each job.
• Managing goods in/out, deliveries and collections.
• Keeping the yard organised, safe and efficient.
• Assessing and selling suitable second hand VELUX windows, surplus stock and accessories.
• Identifying slow moving stock and finding ways to maximise its value.
• Supporting and leading the yard team.

Lean & Continuous Improvement

• Reduce wasted time, errors and unnecessary work.
• Improve stock organisation and processes.
• Make systems easier for yourself and your team.
• Solve recurring problems.
• Improve efficiency, safety and standards.

What You'll Need

• Previous yard, warehouse, construction, manufacturing or building supplies experience.
• Stock management experience.
• Team leader/supervisory experience desirable.
• Strong organisation and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and people skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage your own workload.
• Strong problem solving skills and initiative.
• Good understanding of health and safety.
• Forklift experience/certification advantageous.
• Customer and supplier experience desirable.
