Yard Operative

About the Role

Our client is seeking an energetic and responsible Yard Operative to manage their vehicle depot in Nottingham . This role involves the movement, organization, and basic maintenance checks of vehicles within the yard. You will play a crucial part in ensuring the smooth operation of the depot, maintaining a safe and tidy environment, and assisting with vehicle preparation for dispatch or collection. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys a hands-on role and is keen to contribute to the efficiency of a busy transport hub.

Key Responsibilities

• Safely manoeuvre vehicles around the yard using designated parking bays.
• Organize and position vehicles according to delivery or collection schedules.
• Conduct basic visual checks on vehicles, reporting any damage, leaks, or maintenance issues.
• Maintain the cleanliness and tidiness of the yard, including sweeping and waste removal.
• Assist drivers with vehicle loading and unloading as required.
• Support the depot management team with ad-hoc tasks and operational duties.

Requirements

• Previous experience in a similar yard operative or vehicle marshalling role is preferred.
• Ability to work safely and efficiently in a busy outdoor environment.
• Good spatial awareness and ability to manoeuvre vehicles with care.
• Reliable, punctual, and committed to following instructions precisely.
• Basic understanding of vehicle safety checks.
• A team player with a positive attitude and willingness to assist others in the Nottingham depot.
