Youth Justice Officer – 3 Month Contract

Location: Elmwood Place, 37 Burtons Way, Smith's Wood, Solihull, B36 0UG

Contract: 3 Month Contract

Hours: Full Time

DBS: Enhanced DBS Required

Summary

Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council is in search of a skilled Youth Justice Officer to temporarily join its Youth Justice Service. This role is pivotal in engaging directly with children and young people who are either at risk of offending or are already part of the criminal justice system. The position involves implementing strategies to curb offending behaviors and enhance outcomes. Candidates with a background as a qualified Social Worker, possessing the necessary Youth Justice assessment experience, are also encouraged to apply. Proficiency in completing AssetPlus and/or Prevention and Diversion Assessments is crucial for immediate contribution to the team.

Responsibilities

• Oversee a caseload of young individuals involved with the Youth Justice Service.
  
• Prevention Assessments
  
• Diversion Assessments
  
• Formulate intervention plans to mitigate offending behavior and prevent reoffending.
  
• Perform risk assessments and develop risk management strategies.
  
• Collaborate with children, families, educational institutions, and partner organizations.
  
• Draft court reports and other necessary statutory documents.
  
• Engage in multi-agency meetings, reviews, and panels.
  
• Uphold safeguarding and welfare standards in all casework.
  
• Maintain precise case records and adhere to service protocols.
  
• Assist children and young people in achieving positive outcomes and reducing future offending risks.
  

Requirements

Requirements:

• Proven experience within a Youth Justice Service.
  
• Proficiency in conducting:
• AssetPlus Assessments
  
• Prevention Assessments
  
• Diversion Assessments
  

In-depth knowledge of youth justice legislation, policies, and practices.

Experience managing complex cases involving vulnerable youth.

Competence in a multi-agency collaborative environment.

Strong skills in assessment, report writing, and communication.

Enhanced DBS Check.

This role is suitable for individuals with experience as a Youth Justice Officer, Youth Offending Officer, YOS Officer, Youth Justice Practitioner, Youth Offending Team Practitioner, Children's Social Worker with Youth Justice experience, or Family Support Practitioner with AssetPlus assessment experience.
