About the Role
Our client is seeking a dedicated and passionate Youth Support Worker with a focus on Mental Health to join their vibrant team in Manchester . This role is essential in providing guidance, support, and advocacy for young people experiencing a range of emotional and psychological challenges. You will work directly with young individuals to foster resilience, promote positive coping mechanisms, and connect them with appropriate mental health services. This is a hands-on position within a community setting, requiring dedication and a person-centred approach to empower young people to navigate their difficulties and achieve their potential. You will be part of a team committed to creating safe spaces and offering non-judgmental support.
Key Responsibilities
- Engage with young people in a supportive and non-judgmental manner, building trusting relationships.
- Provide direct emotional and practical support to young people experiencing mental health difficulties.
- Assist in the development and implementation of support plans tailored to individual needs and goals.
- Facilitate group work sessions focused on life skills, emotional regulation, and positive peer interaction.
- Liaise with external agencies, including schools, CAMHS, and other youth services, to ensure holistic support.
- Maintain accurate and confidential records of interactions, progress, and any safeguarding concerns.
Requirements
- Previous experience working with young people, ideally with a focus on mental health or well-being.
- Understanding of adolescent development and common mental health challenges faced by youth.
- Excellent communication, active listening, and empathy skills.
- Ability to work effectively within a team and independently manage caseloads.
- Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and relevant legislation.
- A genuine passion for supporting young people's development and mental resilience in Manchester .
